DGT Mod. 02 is the form to transfer a used vehicle into the buyer's name, or for the seller to notify the sale to the Dirección General de Tráfico. Open the official form from sede.dgt.gob.es in BunnyDoc's free Sign PDF tool straight from this page, type into its fillable fields, add your signature and date, and download it. Everything happens in your browser, so the file never leaves your device.

How to fill in and sign DGT Mod. 02

  1. Vehicle details

Enter the registration number, first registration date, the use code (servicio) and the CET or CEMA codes if you have them.

  2. New address of the vehicle

Give the buyer's registered address (domicilio de empadronamiento).

  3. Buyer and seller

Fill in the buyer's NIF, NIE or CIF, date of birth, name, email and phone, then the seller's NIF and name. Tick whether it is a transfer or a sale notification.

  4. Tax declaration and signatures

Confirm the transfer tax (ITP) has been dealt with under your region's rules, then both buyer and seller sign and date. A sale notification does not need the public employee's signature.

  5. Pay the fee and file

Pay the DGT fee (tasa 1.5, €55.70 at the time of writing) and file at a Jefatura de Tráfico with an appointment (cita previa) online or by calling 060. The buyer must complete the transfer within 30 days of signing the sale contract.

What you need before you start

  • The sale contract or invoice, signed on every page by both parties.
  • The buyer's ID: DNI, Spanish driving licence, residence card, or passport plus NIE.
  • Proof of payment, exemption or non-subjection of the transfer tax with Modelo 620 or 621 from your autonomous community.
  • The DGT fee receipt.

See the DGT transfer page.

Online or in person

Online, the DGT electronic registry accepts transfers with a digital certificate, DNIe or Cl@ve, and companies must use that channel. In person, individuals file at a Jefatura de Tráfico with an appointment and pay by card. If both parties sign Mod. 02, the sale contract does not have to be presented in person.

Common mistakes

  • Not paying the regional transfer tax (ITP) before going to Tráfico.
  • Missing the 30-day deadline for the buyer.
  • A seller who does not notify the sale straight after the sale.
  • Filing one form for several procedures. The DGT asks for one application per procedure.
