How to fill in and sign Form TR2 (Ireland)

  1. Check TR2 is the right form

Use TR2 for a resident company registering without an agent. Agents apply through ROS, individuals and partnerships use TR1, and non-resident companies use TR2 (FT).

  2. General details (Part A)

Answer questions 1 to 21 about the company, such as its name, addresses, business activity and the people responsible for it.

  3. Choose the taxes (Parts B to F)

Complete Part B for Corporation Tax, C for VAT, D to register as an employer, E for Relevant Contracts Tax and F for Capital Gains Tax, as needed.

  4. Sign the declaration

A director, the company secretary or another responsible person gives their name, signature, capacity, date and phone number. Revenue cannot register any tax without it.

  5. Send it to the right Registration Unit

Most companies send it to Business Registrations, Office of the Revenue Commissioners, P.O. Box 1, Wexford, or email businesstaxesregistrations@revenue.ie. Complete it in block letters.

What you need before you start

  • The company's registration details and addresses.
  • Details of the people responsible for the company, such as directors and the secretary.
  • The trading activity and start date.
  • Details needed for each tax you register for, such as VAT turnover or employee numbers.

After registration

The form says all companies must pay and file returns electronically through the Revenue Online Service (ROS). Employers report payroll in real time, which needs a ROS digital certificate. See Registering for tax on revenue.ie.

Common mistakes

  • Using TR2 for a sole trader or partnership, which use TR1.
  • Filing a paper TR2 when an agent is acting. Agents must use ROS.
  • Leaving the declaration unsigned.
