Sign PDF Online, Free and Private
Open a PDF, add your signature, initials, the date, text or a tick, and download the signed copy. No account needed, and your file is never uploaded.
Your file never leaves your device. The PDF is opened and signed inside your browser, and nothing is uploaded to BunnyDoc or anyone else. If you choose to remember your signature, it is saved only in this browser, and you can forget it at any time.

When a self-signed PDF is enough, and when it isn’t
Adding your own signature to a PDF is the quickest way to return a form that asks for one: a permission slip, a rental application, an expense claim, a simple agreement you have already discussed. You sign it here, download it and email it back. For many everyday documents, that is all the other side expects.
What a self-signed PDF doesn’t give you is evidence. The file shows an image of your signature, but nothing records who placed it, when, or whether the document changed afterwards. If the document matters, for example a contract with a client, an employment agreement or anything you might need to rely on in a dispute, use an electronic signature workflow instead.
What an eSignature workflow adds
- Each person signs for themselves. You send the document, and every signer opens it from their own email link, so nobody signs on someone else’s behalf.
- An audit trail. Names, email addresses, times and IP addresses are recorded for every view and signature.
- A sealed final document. The completed PDF is protected so changes after signing can be detected.
- Signing order and reminders. Useful when several people need to sign the same document.
Electronic signatures are recognised in many countries, including under the ESIGN Act in the United States and eIDAS in the European Union, but the rules differ by country and by type of document, and some documents still need a handwritten or witnessed signature. Read more on whether electronic signatures are legal, and ask a lawyer if you are unsure about an important document.

Sign PDF: frequently asked questions
Is this PDF signing tool really free?
Yes. You can sign as many PDFs as you like for free, with no watermark and no account. If you later need other people to sign, BunnyDoc eSignature has a free plan with 5 signature requests a month, and no credit card is required.
Is my PDF uploaded to your servers?
No. Your PDF is opened, displayed and signed entirely in your web browser, and the signed copy is created on your device. Nothing is sent to BunnyDoc. If you tick “Remember my signature on this device”, the signature image is stored only in your browser, and you can remove it with “Forget saved signature”.
Can I sign a PDF on my phone?
Yes. The tool works in the browser on iPhone and Android phones as well as tablets and computers. Draw your signature with your finger, tap a page to place it, and drag the field to move it. The signed PDF is saved to your downloads.
Can I get other people to sign the same PDF?
This free tool is for adding your own signature. To collect signatures from other people, with email invitations, a signing order and an audit trail, send the document with BunnyDoc eSignature. The free plan includes 5 signature requests a month.
Is a PDF signed this way legally binding?
In many countries an electronic signature can be valid for many kinds of agreements, but whether a particular signed document holds up depends on the law where you are, the type of document and whether you can show who signed it. A PDF you sign yourself has no audit trail. For important agreements, use an eSignature service that records the signing process, and check with a lawyer if you are unsure. See is electronic signature legal? for an overview.
Is there a file size limit?
You can open PDFs up to 25 MB. Larger files can be slow in a browser, especially on phones, so compress or split them first. Pages are drawn as you scroll, so long documents still open quickly.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Yes. A scanned PDF is a set of page images, and you can place your signature, the date and text anywhere on them, just like on any other PDF.
Can I sign a password-protected PDF?
Not with this tool. If a PDF has a password or editing restrictions, open it in your PDF reader, save or print an unprotected copy as a PDF, and sign that copy instead.
Need others to sign, or a legal audit trail?
Send your document with BunnyDoc eSignature. Signers get an email link, every step is recorded in an audit trail, and you get the completed PDF back. The free plan includes 5 signature requests a month.
No credit card required.
