How to calculate consumption tax in Japan
- To add consumption tax: price before tax × 1.1 = price including tax. For example, 100.00 × 1.1 = 110.00.
- To remove consumption tax: price including tax ÷ 1.1 = price before tax. For example, 110.00 ÷ 1.1 = 100.00.
- The tax inside a price that includes it: price including tax × 10 ÷ 110. For 110.00 that is 10.00.
