How to write a builder or tradesperson invoice

  • Show labour and materials separately; customers and tax rules often expect it.
  • Reference the quote you are billing against, and list any variations agreed since.
  • Add the site address, especially if you work on several jobs for the same customer.
  • Check if your country has special tax rules for construction, such as reverse charge VAT or withholding schemes.
